Digg Me?

So I thought it would be fun to put a Digg counter up heeehee : ) Anybody else doing this? If you like my blog, give it a lil clicky click : ) It's over there to the right down by my other counters.

Okay... moving on LOL. WOW!! I can't believe it's New Year's Eve. 2007 has gone by so quickly it just amazes me. It seems that each year that passes the next one races by even faster. I've only made a couple resolutions this year. One is the typical "I'm going to loose weight" resolution that we all make. But I've known for about a week that it was going to happen and I'm prepared to stick to it. As proof, I'm going to post my weight here on my blog *gasp! what am I thinking?* and I'll update it regularly (yes more regularly than my "Spare Room Progress" updates) LOL (which by the way, that project has NOT been put on hold, it was just temporarily put on the back burner for the holidays and will resume shortly)
  • Monday weigh-in 258
Over the weekend I got quite a bit accomplished, even though I had to work on Saturday. I got mom's Medicare stuff taken care of. If you know anything about Medicare, it's been open enrollment through today for people who choose to be part of a prescription drug plan, a Medicare Advantage Plan or a Medigap plan. Actually it's a good think I wrote this because I actually hadn't gotten her enrolled in the Drug Plan yet WHEW!! So I'm off to get that taken care of. But I DID get my ad done for one designer that I'm working with this month. Some of you may know Madame Mim... at this point I can only post her link to DST, sorry. She's got some big news coming out soon. Stay tuned, it WILL be posted on my blog as soon as I'm permitted to do so : ) I also got some details pounded out with another designer I'll be working with, ScrappyCats. Some exciting stuff come from that one too, so be sure to visit here again in a couple days. And I also have my third designer selected and that would be Birgit from CatScrap. What a line up!! Oh and also, I got a LO done. Take a look:

So there ya have it folk, another edition of My Life and Scrap. Hope you all have a fun New Year's Eve. Until next time BE SAFE and scrap happy : )

Interesting

So yesterday I posted a few layouts (all inspired by THIS layout) and today I found yet another layout that was inspired by this one. Like I said yesterday, I find it so amazing that there can be so many different takes on one persons idea. I LOVE it. So HERE is the latest one I've found:

I've also found a totally fun (but non scrap related) blog. It's called Wife Advice LOL!!! Just the name cracks me up. It's written by a husband and wife and it's a total kick. You've gotta check it out. I added it to my Google reader : )

We recently re-joined Blockbuster online so we're going to be back to watching tons of movies lastnight we watched Pans Labyrinth. Here's my Snippet Review:
  • I have to admit I was slightly disappointed with this movie. I decided to see it based on the previews, which like many movies these days, all the best parts were in the previews. There was very little as far as the fantasy aspect of the movie and I anticipated this being the majority of it. It was an okay story line and I'm sure you know that the movie IS in Spanish so unless you speak it, be prepared to read sub-titles. I would only recommend this movie if you're bored and have seen every other movie you're interested in. Oh and by the way, it's NOT for young children.
We also watched the first 2 episodes of season 3 Lost. I've got to tell you, this is my favorite TV show. We don't watch it on TV, we wait for it on DVD then we can watch each episode back to back. And it's usually next to impossible to not finish the entire disk in one sitting LOL

I have one other interesting bit of information, then I'm off to Costco for our bulk food shopping, going with hubby to renew his driver license and then to Wal Mart with mom to see if there are still any after Christmas sales out there and get our weekly groceries.

So yesterday I posted again about my idea to offer advertising to designers and lo and behold, I had another amazing designer write to me and ask if I'd be willing to do this for her as well. OF COURSE I would!! For a limited time I'm going to offer my service to different designers in exchange only for personal use of their kits and a reference. At some point, when I feel that I've got the hang of this whole thing I'll start charging a percentage of sales (probably based on what the designer needs) it's still a work in progress and I'm playing it by ear. But I'm open to offers, if anyone else needs advertising send me a link to your store and let me check it out. I'll probably take on one more for January.

And there ya have it folks, all the interesting little tidbits that have popped up since yesterday. Until next time, have a super weekend (& a safe New Year's Eve, if you're heading out before Monday) and I'll see you next week. Be safe and scrap happy.

Exciting News!!

I wanted to post about this earlier, but I haven't had a chance to : ( In fact, I've been busy working my buns off. If you're a regular at my blog then you know that I put out an offer a while back to do advertising for designers in exchange for personal use of their kits and a reference. I'm hoping at some point to turn this into a business. It's easy enough for me to do, I can help others out and I get some really great kits to work with. Pretty much it's a win/win situation for all involved. Well, I got my first taker. She's some one I admire and I think she does amazing work. She's new to the world of design so she hasn't had a fan blinkie for me to sport (until now, I just made one for her, but I can't reveal in yet) I'm totally psyched about this new venture and I can't wait to show you all what I've made for her : )

I haven't had a chance to make any new layout's because I've been busy working on blinkies and ads, but I do have a couple I'd like to share that have inspired me. In fact I totally plan to scraplift THIS layout.

Which turns out was scraplifted from THIS layout

And it was scraplifted from THIS layout

Aren't those cool? I love how it starts out one way with one artists rendition then ends up completely different when done by another artist and even more different when done by another. We're all so creatively different. I hope you enjoyed this little bit of inspiration : )

There you have it folks, another edition of My Life And Scrap. Thanks for stopping by. Until next time, be safe and scrap happy.

Close Call

Christmas went really well. We had such a great time, just the three of us. My mommy came over and had dinner with us and brought her pooch (it was his first Christmas AND his first snow). That's right, we had SNOW today and a bunch of it. (I'll get to that in a bit) This year we promised to keep things simple and that there would be no exchanging of gifts. For the most part we did pretty well with that. Mom gave Hubby and me money and we gave her a turntable that hooks up to the computer and converts Records into MP3s which can be burned to CD! How cool is that? She has a HUGE box of records that she would love to listen to but it's just not as easy as popping in a CD so in the box they stayed... until NOW : ) Here she is:

Isn't that a pretty package? I just LOVE wrapping presents and making them all pretty and stuff : )
She SO did not want to open it, she said it was too pretty and she wanted to keep it that way forever LOL
"Oh look, it's a box!! Just what I wanted"
And then she realized what it was. She was thrilled. She said that she'd been thinking about it since we first saw it.

After a yummy dinner and opening presents we took mom and her lil doggie home and Hubby and I went to a movie. Seeing a movie on Christmas Day has been our tradition for the last 5 years. We saw Alien vs Predator Requiem. It was an okay movie (especially if you saw AND remember the last AvP). I would write one of my Snippet Reviews on it, but honestly I don't think I can : ( I just didn't see it as having a plot (I sure hope my darling Hubby isn't reading this post, he'll be so disappointed LOL)

On the way back from the theater the roads were extremely icy, one car was upside down in the ditch (we stopped to make sure everyone was okay, they were and several other people had already stopped as well) and a second car was nose first in a ditch. VERY scary. I was driving and I was stiff as a board the whole way.

Ohhh I almost forgot, I promised to talk about the snow. It snowed yesterday morning and stuck for most of the day. There's still quite a bit out there, but it mostly melted and has turned to ice now (and I have to drive to work in it) Hopefully by the time it's time to leave it will have eased up some. Sooooo... the snow, yes, of course I took pictures LOL. Tomorrow I'll try to post a few. (And yes, there will be LO's made LOL)

And last but not least I wanted to make sure everyone who wanted to grab my freebie alpha that goes with my Welcome Winter kit has the opportunity to do so. It can be found HERE.

So there ya have it folks. Another edition of My Life And Scrap. Thanks for stopping by! Until next time stay safe and scrap happy : )

I hope everyone's wishes came true and that you all have full tummies : ) I wanted to give you my little gift. The alpha to match the "Welcome Winter" kit. You can grab it by going HERE and clicking on "Digital Scrappers Freebie" in my Yuwie blog : ) I hope you enjoy it. Here's the preview:

So that's it. A quick update of My Life And Scrap. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas. Until next time, be safe and scrap happy : )

What Happened To Friday?

I know, I know!!! Two days off in one week? Not so great for some one on her way to being a pro-blogger : ( And my excuse is pathetic as the day is long, you're not going to believe it. I was supposed to leave for work at 7:30 AM. The plan was to get up at 6:30 AM (an hour gives me plenty of time to shower, get ready, take the dogs out, pack my lunch and publish my blog. Well instead of waking up at 6:30 my darling hubby woke me up at 7:00 asking me why I wasn't up already. In my state of utter grogginess I looked at the clock, remembering I had set it for 7:30 and looked at him like HE was the one who was crazy. I answered "I'm not supposed to be up for another half hour!!" I mean DUH! And he replied with "Ummm... you told ME that you need to leave at 7:30." WhAtTt??? OMG!!! Gonna be late, rush around hurry up, get stuff done. NO TIME TO BLOG!!! EeeeeEEEEkkkKK. I am truly honestly sorry that I messed up. But in case you're wondering, I did make it to work on time (by the skin of my teeth).

So yes, I know, I know, I totally OWE you guys and I'll make it up to you : ) If you've joined Yuwie then you already know that I've made a lil somethin'. If you haven't joined Yuwie, then you'll just have to wait until tomorrow to get it LOL. As I've mentioned before, all my designs will be uploaded to my Yuwie blog before they hit My Life And Scrap. I'll always post a notice that all of my friends will see notifying them that a new Freebie has been uploaded : ) And of course, you can join Yuwie at any time. Want to see what's coming? Take a peek.

So there ya have it folks, another edition of My Life And Scrap. Until next time, stay safe and scrap happy.

New CT!!

Last week I was offered a position on Wendy Page's CT!! How exciting is that? She had offered me her designs to play with and it was a heck of a deal but I thought it would be fun to be on her CT too, so I asked and she granted. If you don't know about Wendy Page you've GOT to check her out. HERE and HERE!! In fact I just picked up a few of her elements that are going to be in a LO real soon. Is this stuff gorgeous or what?

I'm hoping to have completed a couple LO's with her goodies in the next day or two and of course, they'll be posted right here.

My elements for the WelcomeWinter kit are almost ready. They'll be uploaded to Yuwie first, then announced here the next day. So if you're anxious to get the elements to go with the PaperPack, head on over to Yuwie and get signed up. You'll be first to be notified : )

So there ya have it folks. Thursday's edition of My Life and Scrap. Until next time, be safe and scrap happy : )

Legend

Saturday evening Hubby and I went to see I am Legend! OMG! This is a must see. Without a doubt. If you don't see any other movie be sure to see this one. Here's my Snippet Review:
  • I am Legend is one of those movies that takes you on an emotional roller coaster. There is so much going on through the entire movie, so many ups and downs you never have a dull moment. With a few good jump scenes and a few good tear jerkers there's something for everyone. I thought it was a very powerful performance. My only issue with the entire movie was the end. It was like it suddenly was over. I felt like they could have put a little more into it, but I would still highly recommend it.
We go to the theater in the next town over, it's just a much nicer theater than the one in our own town. We were a bit surprised to find that they were showing this moving in multiple theaters. It was such a huge hit that they had to remove 2 other movies to make extra space for all the people who showed up for this movie. That's pretty impressive!

Aside from my movie excitement... I've been busy working on the elements for the new kit. They're mostly done. The paper pack has been a HUGE hit : ) Thank you to everyone who has gone to Yuwie and downloaded it. I really appreciate all the page views. And if you're still thinking of joining... click HERE to do so. I've even joined a Digi Scrapping club over there : ) It really is a blast. Come on girls, give it a try.

And last but not least... I thought I'd give you a spare room update, since there hasn't been a change in AGES. Today the maintenance people finally came and took the doors off the closet. I got a few things organized in there and the next move is to get the shelves ready to go in!! I'm making progress, slowly but surely.

So there ya have it folks. Sorry there isn't much in the way of photos and links this time, but that's Tuesday's edition of My Life and Scrap. Until next time, stay safe and scrap happy.

Cupie

I finally did it!! I broke down and subscribed to the Atomic Cupcake buffet : ) I've been hemming and hawing about it for ages and when I went to the site today I saw that it's on sale until the 19th for 20% off. It isn't often I've seen a sale at Atomic Cupcake so I decided it was meant to be and I jumped on it. So... I've already downloaded tons of stuff and made some things to go with the NEW KIT!!

Yep, that's right, there's a new kit out. Yes, that means more than just papers LOL. It's divided up into two separate freebies though, the first one is the papers the second will be elements and will probably come out either later this week or next week. You'll just have to keep checking back : ) I've decided to upload the freebie to my blog on Yuwie. I figure if I'm making the freebie for you the least you can do is go to my Yuwie site to get it (that gives me a page view translating into- an extra income stream) And if you like it and think you can use some extra money why not sign up for Yuwie? You'll automatically be my friend so you'll get a notice when there's a new freebie there : ) So I suppose you'd like a preview of the papers?

What do you think? Like the new color swatch?? I thought it was SO pretty, couldn't resist doing something with it : )

Well there you have it folks. Monday's short and sweet edition of My Life and Scrap. Until next time, be safe and scrap happy!!

DIY and Pictures

While Stumbling through some websites a few days ago I found a fun new DIY project. It always amazes me that people can come up with such fun things. I mean... I certainly never would have thought of a way to make roses from Maple Leaves. How cool is this?

Wednesday, on my way to work (yes I still work even though I have my own business LOL) I was passing by a body of water (I'm not sure if it's a lake or if it's an inlet that's part of the Puget Sound) but the clouds were low and it was a gray gloomy typical Pacific Northwest morning. It was just too beautiful to not stop and shoot a few pictures. You'll be seeing these in a LO real soon.

That last one looks kind of eerie to me LOL. BTW, the little spots in the water are ducks swimming to the other side.

I thought that since I didn't have a LO to upload I would share a couple that I've found to be inspiring. I LOVE Digitals and cruise their pages and I've been trying to get involved in their challenges there, so my first 2 picks come from Digitals. Both are from the same scrapper (Christine) She's pretty new to Digitals so I'm sure she'd LOVE to get some love from you : )

The first LO I thought was cool because of that too fun photo!! Look at those girls, aren't they having a blast? I also like all the layers and the shabby frame! Good stuff here. I made it clickable so you can go there to comment.
The second one I thought was neat because of the extraction. I love the little fairy boy sitting in the palm of the hand and all the pretty flowers surrounding him. Very cool.

And finally, this LO by the Domestic Goddess, was posted at DST. I just LOVE those Christmas trees and the little snowman. And of course... that picture is priceless.

So go forth and leave love : ) LOL

Well there ya have it folks, another edition of My Life and Scrap. Until next time... Have a great weekend, be safe and scrap happy!!

Ideas & Movie Review

In my last post I kind of left you hanging saying that I had some ideas. The big one is that I wanted to talk more about one I've already mentioned, the possibility of paring up with a designer to do advertising for her. I've had some hits on this and I'm pretty excited by the possibilities that have come my way, but nothing has finalized. So... if you're a designer and you would rather spend your time designing and not have to worry about doing the advertising end of it drop me a line. I'm looking for just one or maybe two people to work with, in exchange all I'd ask is to be able to play with your kits and a reference. I'm thinking of a one month period to get things rolling and then re-negotiate from there.

Also, in my last post I signed off saying I was going to watch a movie. SuperBad actually. My second idea was that I might start writing movie reviews. Just little short snippet type reviews LOL. I watch SO many movies this might be a good way for you to avoid the bad ones LOL. So without further ado I bring to you... SuperBad, a snippet review.
  • SuperBad was a very funny movie. It had some great scenes where I thought I was going to pee my pants from laughing so hard. On the other hand there is a LOT of rough language and loads of illegal activity (teens drinking, cops doing stupid things like handing their guns over to these kids) It reminded me in some ways of Harold & Kumar Go To WhiteCastle but just in the sense that the movie goes on and on with all of these stupid things happening and you begin to wonder how they're really related. It was good for a laugh. If you're bored and don't mind the language go ahead and grab it, you'll laugh, but don't turn down doing something else to see it.
Today I'm off to a medicare meeting with mom and I've got some other things I need to do this afternoon. Not looking like there's going to be much time for scrapping. But I DID get some good pics yesterday that I'm really excited about posting. Soon, I promise.

So there ya have it folks, another edition of My Life and Scrap. Until next time... stay safe and scrap happy.

I'm taking a creative day today. Be back tomorrow : )

Into Production...

So things are going well with Yuwie. Some of you asked about it. It's going to be slow going, so if you're interested, jump on board now rather than wait until 6 months down the road when people are making the big bucks and you have to wait even longer LOL. After all, it IS completely free to join and it's fun too : ) I'm really having a blast with it. I'm thinking of using it to host my freebies. Hmm... We'll see.

A few days ago I got the sweetest gift. Amanda Thorderson sent me a gift certificate to Beth Rimmer's store with a note attached thanking ME for all I do for HER!! I almost fell off my chair. Now let me just say, Amanda invited me to her CT so I get all of her incredible goodies to play with for free. I personally think that that is a huge compliment (the invite to her CT) and more than thanks enough (that I get to play with her designs) I was seriously floored by the GC. Thank you Amanda, I really appreciate it and thank you for allowing me to be on your CT. In case you're dying to know what I grabbed from Beth's store (and I know you are) here's a peek...

Good stuff huh? And those overlays mean that there's a pretty good chance of YOU getting something out of it (wink wink) Don't they look delish?

I've been having fun with some challenges over at Digitals. They really have some good stuff there. Like the "It's ELEMENTary challenge". Check out that posting bonus. Cool huh?

And here's the LO I submitted for it.

In addition to the elements provided I used one of Dea's Templates and some of her Papers too. That pretty blue sheer ribbon is by Wendy Page and she's like WOW!!! Alpha is by the Shabby Princess herself and everything else was given out in the challenge. (the pretty blue bow at the top is by the fabulous Amanda Thorderson, I recolored it to match the LO) I have a couple other LO's done as well, just have to get them uploaded and set to go. I've actually been a busy girl : )

I've got other news too, but I think this post is getting a bit lengthy so I think I'll save it for tomorrow LOL. For now... I'm off to watch a movie- SuperBad!!! LOLOL I'm pretty psyched.

So there ya have it folks. Another episode of my life and scrap. Until next time, stay safe and scrap happy!!

A little fun

Did you notice the new banner on the side of my page? I hope so : ) I'm pretty excited about it. Have you heard of Yuwie? In case you haven't... it's this fun new Social Networking thing like MySpace, only Yuwie pays you for using the service. Now before you tell me it's a scam let me first say that there is heavy advertising on the site (much like on MySpace) but Yuwie shares their profits from the advertisers with us. It only makes sense that if we have to see the ads we should be compensated for them, right? Give it a try, what do you have to loose?

Moving on...

I thought it would be fun to post some of my favorites from my StumbleThrough Flickr Saturday night. I've really become addicted to this service, it is so much fun. Unfortunately I think I could spend most of the day just stumbling through websites... sigh.

Hope you enjoy those as much as I did : )

I wanted to thank you all for your sweet comments. I'm feeling better, thank you. Today I have an appointment with my regular doctor to follow up on some other health issues. I've got the whole severely low iron thing going on and I can't take the high amounts of iron they want me to, it causes me to have to run to the restroom everytime I eat or drink something. That's no good. So I guess we'll find out what to do about that. I also have a massage. I Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket my message therapist, she's SO good to me : )

Correction

Gosh I hate that this is the third time I've had to do this GRRR!!! It drives me nuts when I make a mistake : ( It seems that when I uploaded the freebie on Wednesday I forgot to put the frame in the zip. I am SO sorry : ( So... for those of you who are interested you can grab the whole thing again from HERE it's in there now.

I'm not feeling well today, so I'm going to cut out of here with just this. I'll spend the weekend resting and hope to be back to normal next week.

Until next time, be safe and scrap happy.

Link Love

Welcome to the second edition of Link Love! (insert cheering HERE)

I found this site while checking out StumbleUpon. Nothing more than some beautiful eye candy. If you like drama or costumes, you'll love Carnival in Venice.

Still looking for stocking stuffers? HERE are 10 for less than $10. There are some really fun ideas there that I never would have thought of, like DIY buildable drinking straws LOL.

Here is your stress reliever link for the week. You know, sometimes you just want to do something meaningless but entertaining? Have fun, mine turned out perfect : )

Another dose of cuteness can be found right HERE

A cool paper and frame freebie is HERE on Mindy's blog

And last but not least, hubby found this fun site that is somewhat like MySpace, only you can get PAID for using it. Cool or what? Why not give it a try? It's free to use, what do you have to loose?

So there it is, another episode of My Life and Scrap. Until next time... be safe and happy scrapping.

PhotoWalking Wednesday (and a freebie)

Boy did we have a rough weekend. That's when I usually have an opportunity to take photos. This weekend we had snow followed by record rainfall and it left parts of our town flooded. I'm not so sure about taking my camera out in the rain, I don't have any protective gear for it and I don't want to ruin it, so regretfully I didn't get any pictures of the flood. I did, however get these...

I think the snow is absolutely beautiful. I don't care to be out in it, but I sure do like looking at it from inside my warm home. And yes, I did actually go outside to take these LOL

So I know that I promised you a freebie yesterday and I didn't deliver, I'm REALLY sorry about that. The last thing I want is for people to think that I'm promising something and not giving it. So... I tried to add a few little things to make it even better. I hope you like it, you can find it HERE. And here's a preview...

I would love to have your honest opinions what you think. I can't improve if I don't know if you like it or not. Any feedback is welcome, even if you don't want to post it in the comments, you're welcome to email it to me.

So let's see... next on the agenda. There's been discussion on a forum I'm on about advertisers. You know, people who will promote your designs for a small fee. I'd love to know what others think of this service. I personally think it's a great idea and I wish I'd thought of it first. I LOVE business, I have my own business that I have a blast running and I love scrapping. So for me, the logical flow seemed to learn to design so I can make things that I like, sell them and maybe make some money too. What didn't occur to me was how long it would take me to learn to design (especially considering I hadn't the slightest clue how to use PhotoShop LOL) Well, now I'm thinking that maybe I should have found a partner. Some one who LOVES to design but doesn't love the business side so much. You know, some one who would rather spend their time making new things than to spend their time promoting their existing things. And maybe work out some sort of deal, maybe for the first month they give me their designs for compensation (that way they can "test the waters" to see if they want to keep me on) and then negotiate a % of sales from there, or even a flate rate. I think it's a great idea myself. Tell me your opinions... please, I'd love to know if you'd use this service (or if you're interested email me and we can talk LOL)

Well that's all I've got today...

So there ya have girls, another edition of My Life and Scrap. Until next time be safe and scrap happy.

So much to say...

First of all I wanted to say WOW!! I had an amazing response to my new iMOM support site for our business. If you're totally lost as far as what I'm talking about read yesterday's post LOL. I LOVE doing business and being able to help others make money and learn to do business is even more fun (especially when it's helping out my fellow scrappers)

Next I want to show you a new LO that I did. This one was so much fun. I had the idea in my head lastnight and thanks to Dea's amazing templates I could just through it all together in a matter of a few minutes. So first I'll show you the LO then I'll show you the ingredients : )

Find Amanda's Christmas in Bordeaux HERE and Dea's Layering Around Templates HERE

And finally, I'd like to show you Dea's newest release. I'll tell ya, I'm loving this lady's designs more and more every day. Every single thing she puts out is better than the one before it. I'm very proud to be a part of her CT. Ladies... Dea's newest kit A Fantasy Tale

I know that I said there would be freebies today, but I just didn't get the packed up like I thought I would. I am soooo sorry. I promise I will get them to you tomorrow. Don't give up on me.

And last, but by no means least... The Spare Room Update!! I know you'll be very excited to hear that I did in fact make progress today. Finally, something to report LOL. I got the bags of clothes moved from the corner of the room and into the back seat of my car. I had full intentions of driving them off to Goodwill yesterday, but as it turns out we had record rainfall and the roads were flooded. Do I get credit for good intent? LOL So the next step is to have maintenance come to remove the closet doors. I think it's going to look pretty cool once we get that done. A shelving unit will go in and then we're going to hang beads. I'll post pics : )

So there ya have girls, another edition of My Life and Scrap. Until next time be safe and scrap happy.

Hey Moms!!

You know I've mentioned our business here and there and given links for you to check it out. We've had such an amazing response that I decided to start up my own support site for all the stay at home moms who could use some extra money (or even moms who don't stay at home but would like to) In the past my dearest husband has been the business man but he's been doing so well I just HAD to start something up of my own. So there ya have it moms!! A place where we can make some money for our pockets or pay down some of those growing credit card debts with Christmas just around the corner.

Stay tuned, I've learned some neat stuff over the weekend. I should have it zipped up and ready for your snagging pleasure tomorrow.

Until next time...
