Job Done and a Tick!!

Don't worry, not the kind of tick you think LOL. I got my ticker all made up and it's going to appear at the end of each post. I decided not to put it up on the description part of my blog only because I didn't want it to be quite so "In your face" for other people who come to my blog plus it's already in my post while I'm typing so I have to look at it the entire time. That little TICKER that's taunting me with the 110 pounds I need to loose. I can't believe I'm SO over weight >UGH!<

I also wanted to say that I finished a slice of a daily task. I got one dog butt shaved. That's all I can handle in one sitting, reminds me too much of those hard working dog grooming days. So, I didn't get to cross anything off today, but tomorrow I'll get the other dog done and I'll get to cross it off then.

Told Leonard about my list, he thinks it's a good idea. It's mostly full of things he bugs me about doing and it goes in one ear and out the other and never gets done, so he's thrilled with the idea I'm sure LOL.

Gotta get off to work. It's been SO nice to just take my time today and fart around and have nearly SIX hours to get ready for work LOL. I'll try to check in later on my lunch break. Hope everyone's day is going well.

Bed Time!!

I made to bed at 10:30 lastnight. Actually I was in bed a couple minutes after 10 but Leonard sat and talked to me for a little bit and then I called mom for a routine "goodnight" call. We were talking about her mom and the pictures I posted in my last post. She said that she had never really compared the 2 pictures like that and she even agreed that it was a bit eerie. Then Leonard came in again to find out why I wasn't asleep LOL. He's really supportive of most anything I want to do and he knows I want to make this schedule work.

Ya know what's been really amazing the last few days? Just as I'm about to drift off to sleep I get this huge creative flow, all these ideas start running through my head. I've put some paper and a pen by my bed so I can write them down. It's incredible. I've been thinking that I had a mental creative block but I it's gone now.

Anyway, back to what I was talking about- my new bed time schedule. It's working for me already. This morning I woke up at 5:59am, 1 minute before my alarm (which is really nice because I hate hate hate the sound of an alarm) LOL.

Before I go, I have a scrapbook page to share.

That's my right arm and the tattoo closest to my wrist is only a month old, it's my favorite. I kinda think mom even likes it. I used Tangie Baxter's kit, I'm a Fanpire, to make this one.

Okay, I'm off for now. Until next time...

New ATC & Some Pictures

Lastnight I had another idea for a card, so I put it together and got it scanned and it's up and ready for trade. Sometimes I feel like my cards are really plain and simple, but they're cards that I think are fun... they're cards that I like and would enjoy receiving in a trade. I probably should learn some new techniques... considering I have NOTHING else to do LOL.

Mom's appointment went really well. The doctor says her lungs are looking good, which is really good news. Plus she says she breathes so much better as weather cools off. I can't imagine how it must have been for her in Florida where it never gets cool. Mom has COPD from many many years of smoking. She doesn't smoke now and hasn't for several years, but she's paying for it now and she tells everyone that she comes across that they shouldn't smoke and what it's done to her and then we talk about just how lucky she is. She uses 3 inhalers but she has her lungs, her throat, her mouth, she can talk and she doesn't use oxygen or have cancer. I am SO thankful to have her here with me so I can take care of her. It scares me to think what kind of shape she would be in right now if she were still in Florida.

On a side note, after mom's appointment we went SHOPPING!!! : ) First of all we got my daily chore done by dropping of a bunch of clothes at Goodwill. I couldn't resist going in for a peek. I was hoping to find some old game pices like maybe a scrabble set to use on my ATCs or a shelf that would work for my closet but no such luck. What I DID find was this little charm:

I spotted that little pot and knew right away that it was just what I wanted for my paint brushes. Of course I don't really paint (although it is on my list of things to do when I retire) but I do smear paint around on my ATCs from time to time LOL. After Goodwill we went to Walmart to pick up a few odds 'n' ends then I surprised mom with a pedicure (her birthday is on the 2nd) stay tuned, I sense a scrapbook page coming. After groceries I took poor tired mom home to get some rest. (By the way, before she came here she couldn't even walk to her mailbox because she couldn't breathe. Now she walks all over the place)

Last, but certainly not least I wanted to close this on a sweet note. A couple pictures.

In the first picture it's my mother on the left, her grandmother next, her son (Danny), her mother (also Aunt Linda's mother) and the little girl is Felicity- Danny's daughter. Five generations! That doesn't happen often. The second picture on the left is Amy (my cousin Joe's wife), Aunt Vera Ann (mom's sister- from the other side of the family LOL) and my mom. Now... what I'd like for you to take a look at is the two ladies on the far right of each picture. Look at the resemblences (I don't dare point them out, some are too errie and some I migh get smacked for LOL). I would venture to believe the two women are close to the same age in each photograph but the photos where taken many years apart. Just look at their ams, their legs... like mother like daughter? Guess we all know what I'll look like when I'm that age : )

And on that note, I'll leave you for the day. Hope you're all off to a good start this week and I hope that the rest of the week is even better. I'm off to read and comment on blogs now.

Quickie

It's almost time to head out to get mom for her doctor's appointment so this will be a quickie. Just finished reading all my blogs and unsubscribed from a feed that was seeming useless. I used to enjoy seeing other people's ATCs for inspiration, but that has become quite the time sink and besides, I usually manage to get my own inspiration anyway.

Today's chore is simple, but will make things easier AND make more room. I have tons of clothes that need to be donated!! We're going right by the Goodwill, it's perfect. It's been taking up a huge chunk of space in the Art Room (which in still in need of a lot of work). I'm also adding to my list of daily chores- clear out some clothes from the closet that aren't being worn to fit a shelving unit in there AND clean out the boxes of clothes from under Leonard's bed that I'm not wearing so I can have a place to store my summer clothes. YES, I admit it, I'm afraid that the world is suddenly going to run out of clothes and I won't be able to buy any so I'm hording them. LOL

Ouch, Auntie L is off to a rough start with her weight loss, but I think it was a reality check for her and I know she'll do MUCH better next week : )

Been thinking a lot about some of the ideas Aunt L keeps throwing around. I'm thinking more and more about getting on with my designing of scrapbook kits. I was doing so well before and all of a sudden just gave up. I used to give away freebies here on my blog on a weekly basis (and I thought that they were pretty good for a beginner). I'd like for my blog to have some purpose other than just updating the fam on my daily musings- not that it isn't a good purpose, but I don't think that the population in general really cares what's going on in my life from day to day LOL. I was thinking of maybe getting back to doing my freebies and then a little something else that may be on a more daily basis. I was thinking maybe a pet tip a day or something like that. Haven't decided yet, but it's going to be something.

UGH!!! So much for this being a quickie. I still have more to say but I've GOT to leave right now LOL. Be back later.

It Feels SO Good...

to get my daily chore done LOL. I got the shoe rack moved into the Art Room and everything in the Art Room has been rearranged. I keep thinking we need a bigger place but the truth is that we have a pretty big place already and I'm not making use of the space that I already have. I need to think SHELVES!!! My Art Room is SO cluttered, I sometimes feel like the room itself is the creative block, too much clutter clogging up the pathways. Kaycee (mamma dog) has a palett on the floor of the closet that she likes to lay on when I'm at the Art Table and I keep thinking that it's valuable space being wasted... but if I were to get a shelf I could still leave that space for her and be able to store stuff above where she lays. Anyway, here are a couple pictures of how it looked before I started rearranging. Actually, that's pretty much how it still looks, the changes were mostly made to the closet and to the area beside the closet.

Okay, that's it for now. I'm still going to try to get back later and post those pictures I want to show to Aunt Linda. But for now... time to hit the shower (at nearly 1PM LOL)

A New Card

I finished a new card lastnight. I'm having so much fun making (and trading) ATCs. I want to make a whole series of Halloween cards, as well as the Fencling series (which I haven't done anything more with yet- frown). Anyway, this one is neither. As I was heading off to bed I saw this little girl sitting on my art table and just had the idea, so I put it together.

I wish my scanner worked better, any time there's anything that is raised it blurs the whole picture. And it doesn't pick up glitter very well. As I said before, much cutter in person. LOL. She's currently available for trade : )

On a side note, I think Fall is upon us. It's been pretty cold here the last week or so. Down in the 50's at night and 60's during the day. I thought I was going to freeze lastnight but hubby brought in a huge comforter (to go on top of the one I already had on) and he bundled me up all nice and toasty. Of course when I woke up I only had the sheet on... I always get too warm during the night. I always look forward to Fall, it's been my favorite season, ever since I can remember. I probably liked it so much in Florida because that's when the heat wave finally would break and it would get down to 75 degrees LOL. But seriously, it has NOTHING to do with my birthday LOL : )))

I'm off for now. Tonight is Red Lobster (all you can eat shrimp) with Mom. I am SO looking forward to all that yumminess : ) Only got 3 more days to enjoy myself then it's time to start keeping track of my weight.

SO Routine!!!

I've decided that since I've finally got an ideal schedule it's time to get control over my life. First things first... my sleep schedule! EVERYONE says they feel better and sleep better when they're on a regular schedule, you know, up at the same time every day, in bed at the same time every night. So I'm going to give it a try. It's going to kill me at first because in order to get up at the same time every day and be able to get to work on time every day I'll have to get up at 6:30 AM (and I'm NOT a morning person!!). You see, my schedule varies from day to day, but not week to week. So every Tuesday I know I have to be at work at noon... but on Friday I have to be at work at 8AM. I'm going to start with tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Oh and by the way.... Auntie L, I found some old pictures I'd like for you to see. I'm getting them scanned in tonight, I'll post them up tomorrow.

Ni Night : )

This n' That

I thought that today I would write a little post about the "little things" going on around me. Just a sort of all encompassing type post.

To start with, I've decided that I'm going to join Auntie L and Fran on their weight loss journey. I know for a fact that you're more likely to succeed in loosing weight if you're held accountable, that's why Weight Watchers works. People show up at a MEETING where they WEIGH IN and then they talk about their SUCCESS & FAILURE then they're given FEEDBACK. If I just say I'm going to loose weight and then I don't, I don't have anyone to "slap my hand" so to speak. So... I thought that I would make my weigh in day be Wednesday since Auntie L has Monday and Fran has Friday. I also thought that if we all have different days that will help keep it in the front of our minds because 3 out of 7 days of the week one of us will be posting our weight : )))

Next order of business... a to do list. I'm going to have to start one. My apartment is not dirty but it's very dis-organized. Stuff here, stuff there, it's crazy. And I have all these little chores I'd like to get done- clean the blinds, dust the nick nack shelves, shave the dogs' butts. Okay so I don't really want to do that last one, but it NEEDS to be done : ( So... I thought I'd get a notebook started and get a list going. Every time I think of something that needs to be done I'll add it to the list and each day I'll do ONE (yes, only one) of those items. The hard part is motivating myself to get up from here and do it, I'd MUCH rather be enjoying my computer time.

A while back I signed up for this Pay Per Post thing. So here's how it works- you sign up (please use my link by clicking on the purple box to the right, I get $15 for referring you) list your blog then wait for approval. I just listed my blog today so I'll let you know as soon as I get approved. Once you're approved you go to an "Opportunities" page where you'll see all of the available offers (there are lots, you can see them even before you're blog gets approved). Choose your offer and you have 6 hours to write your post. It can take up to 30 days for your post to be approved and wa-la, you're PayPal account is funded with what ever the payout was from the offer you chose. How does that sound? Do you think it would interfere with the purpose of our blogs? I honestly do not intend to
swamp my blog with ads, but wouldn't it make a wonderful income stream? Maybe do a handful of them a week? I'm really interested in knowing what you all think.

I have a few other things I'd like to write about, but why blow it all at once, right? I mean I probably should save something for tomorrow LOL. So... with that I'm going to sign off. I'll leave you with a recent scrapbook page I created. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

This is me and hubby taken at a park a few blocks from where we live. (Almost) everything on this page comes from the new birthday kit at Tangie's store, mentioned in the previous post : )))

Weird Day

I don't know what was going on today. Everything I did was wrong. Stupid little things that turned into very big important things putting other people in jeopardy... NOT good. At that point it was time for me to walk away. Fortunately when I made that big mistake I caught it right off, corrected it and called it a day. I don't know how to really explain it but it was like I was foggy, like I wasn't myself. It was like some one else was in my body and my hands were just moving out of automation. Then I would just look down at my hands and feel confussed, like I didn't know what I was doing. As the work day came to a close I started craving chocolate milk lik BIG TIME!! Considering I'm not a huge fran of chocolate OR milk this was a bit odd too, yet even more strange I decided to attempt to satisfy the craving with pretzels and apple juice. EWWW!!! Didn't work. We stopped at a convenience store on the way back in so I could get my chocolate milk. I'm ready for this day to be over.

Thrilling

I'm totally flabergasted to learn that my cousin, Frances, wants to learn to do digital scrapbooking!! YES, another one converted LOL : )) I admire paper scrappers, really. I know how fun it is to get out the fun scissors and cut cool shapes and then get gluey fingers (yes, I seriously enjoy that) but I also know that when it comes to scrapping Digital is the way to go. These days the elements look so real and a little bit of effort can make your whole page look totally 3D! Advantages?
  1. Basically no storage space requirted.
  2. Items can be reused over and over (little impact on the environment)
  3. No mess to clean up after your done.
  4. You can still have "real" pages by simply printing your digital pages and then sliding them into an album
But how to teach some one to scrap? Hmmm... I don't know. Most importantly, one must have a software program to scrap in and have a basic working knowledge of said program. The next step would be to begin acquiring a digital stash so you have something to work with. And then it's a matter of just putting things in place. To get started collected your digital goodies I would suggest starting with freebies to be sure that this is something that you want to do. Where do you find these freebies? Start HERE. IkeaGoddess is truly a sweetheart, she puts together a daily list of places you can find free stuff. Some of it's good some of it isn't. DON'T feel obligated to take it all (in fact most days I don't find anything I like). You could also register at the DST forum HERE and check out their freebies section HERE. Frances, once you have a collection started let me know and we'll start making a layout : ) Until then go HERE and look at some of the other digital pages people have made... mine are FAR from the best LOL.

Neighbors

I'm trying SO hard to not go insane. I HATE living under people, it's a nightmare. I rent an apartment... a pretty big apartment for pretty cheap and have pretty annoying neighbors. They have a small child that makes big noise, stomping, pounding, playing with the heating vents (which reverberates through the ceiling and makes a racket that makes me cringe)!! I can't think, all I can do is listen! Before allowing myself to get to the point of self implossion I called security and filed a report... after all, it is 12:30 at night!!

>end vent<

Fences ATC

Here are the first 2 cards in my "Fences" series. The first one was traded the second one is available for trade (it's MUCH cuter in person, my scanner isn't top notch)

The fences are from Tangie's Grungy Fencelings : )

Cataracts

Tomorrow is mom's follow up appointment from her cataract surgery. She had it done on the 17th (last Wednesday) and it went SO well. This was her first surgery ever. Fortunately I was able to stay with her right up until they wheeled her off to the operating room, which of course meant Photo Op LOL. Twenty minutes later the doc came out to greet me in the waiting room to tell me she was done!! I was totally shocked how quick it was. Mom says that she can see perfectly from her right eye but her left eye is horrible. She says that she never realized how bad her vision was.

Luckily my mom has a sense of humor LOL.

Birthday Boy

Today is my hubby's birthday. He's turning 38. Sometimes I think it's hard to believe that I'm married to a man who's almost 40 but then I remember that I'm turning 32 next month. I don't know where the time has gone. There are so many things still in my book of things to do and I feel like my life is at a stand still right now. I know that I'll get to do all the things I want to do, I just have to be patient and do the things necessary to get to the point where I can do them.

Right now he's still sleeping but soon I'm going to get up and make breakfast for him. He loves my pancakes and a couple slices of turkey bacon (we don't eat beef or pork). I like to surprise him with breakfast in bed on special occasions.

Lastnight we went to a late showing of Babylon AD. It was something he wanted to see. At the end we both agreed it should have come with a warning about how bad it sucked. It literally had ZERO story line LOL. DON'T waste your time (if you haven't already) Vin Diesel will try to lure you in, but be strong and resist LOL.

Tonight we will go to dinner. His choice of course. I really want to go to Red Lobster- it's all you can eat shrimp right now and it looks SO yummy. But it's not my day LOL. Mom has a sore throat so she says she probably won't join us. I'm very sad about that, I really enjoy spending time with her. Plus she wanted to go to Red Lobster too LOL.

Before I go, I thought I'd throw in a picture of my super cute, super sweet hunny bunny. Happy Birthday baby!!

Aunt Shirlie

On 9-11-08 Aunt Shirlie passed away. It's bee especially rough for mom, they talked on the phone nearly every day. They never let the span of an entire country come between them and at the reunion in July they never missed a beat, chatting it up the whole time. This was the last picture taken of her (that I know of). As always she gave me hell for taking her picture.

This page was made using Angie Kovac's kit Lauren's Grace (pictured below)

Angie invited me to be a guest on her Creative Team for the month of September and I thought this kit would be perfect for honoring my late aunt.

Art Room

I am so excited about my Art Room!! Well, really it's a corner of my bedroom, but still... it's MY corner and I've declared it My Art Room. Anyway, what started out as a coffe table with a few art items has transformed into a HUGE thing. I used to spend only 5 minutes here and there on my art projects because that's all I could stand to sit on the floor on my knees. I would start to feel dizzy and thought I was going to pass out. I guess it's kind of like standing with your knees locked for too long.

So... I transformed 2 sets of cubes (they were just taking up space anyway) into a stand for my coffee table. They raised it up about a foot and a half and made it just perfect for a desk. I brought in a kitchen chair (also just wasting space) and wa-la instant desk chair. I bought 10 shoe box size plastic containers and 5 containers a bit larger and got a good start on organizing some of my art supplies. The plastic containers are stacked on the shelf of the coffee table and all my old
magazines for cutting up are now stored inside the cubes. It's perfect.

After spending who knows how much some time organizing I did a little work on my art project. I'm making a series of ATCs with Tangie's new Grungy Fenclings.

I think these are just too perfect. I'll be sure to upload some of my cards when I get them done. Tonight I just chilled with some Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alice Cooper, Ozzy, an exact o knife and cut out some fences. I also cut out about 30 ATC backs so I'll have them when I'm ready. It was a very productive night. Amazing what one can get done when she has a comfortable place to work huh?

Template Challenge

New challenge just posted at The Loft. You MUST check it out, there's a rockin' template in it for you AND a chance to win $10 to Tangie's store!! Trust me, you want that gift certificate... aside from all the wonderfulness already in her store there's something coming that you WON'T want to miss : ))) So head on over to The Loft and play with us.
