Monday's Layouts

Where have the past 2 weeks gone? In fact... where has August gone? I just cannot believe that tomorrow is the 1st of September *sigh*

There hasn't been much time for scrapping this week. In fact the first 2 layouts I'm going to show you were completed a week or more ago and I just finally found the time to upload them.

Muttballs

I thought I'd do a fun little post today about a super yummy treat that I found while scouring the net.
One of the blogs I like to look at for inspiration is called "Last Door... Down the Hall". She always has something fun posted, but I never expected to come across Muttballs! They're so quick and easy to make and so healthy, I couldn't resist whipping up a batch. And my dogs will confirm: They're delish!

Try them yourself, I'll bet your dogs will agree with mine.

Muttballs
1 pound ground or minced raw chicken
5 ounces of dried bread crumbs or crushed crackers
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 egg

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Roll into 1 inch balls and place on a greased baking pan.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from oven. Cool. Store in an air tight container in the refrigerator.
These can also be frozen for up to six weeks.

Monday's Layouts

It's been a little crazy this past week so I didn't get to do much scrapping. Even though it was crazy it felt productive. I kinda like it when I have days like that. So... here's what I was able to get scrapped this past week:

Here Kitteh

Some of you have heard about the kitten incident from a few nights ago, if you have, no need to keep reading, just scroll down for the cuteness. If you haven't heard the story... here it is.

I was exhausted so I hit the sack early. I was sleeping pretty good when Kaycee woke me up, barking. I heard a screechy sound outside so I went to look and saw nothing. Went back to bed. An hour later, more barking and repeated screeching. Back outside I found a kitten, just the size of my hand. SO tiny. The ironic part? She was on the stairs just outside my door. How in the heck could something so tiny get onto the stairs?

Well, of course, I picked the little thing up and she was just crying like crazy and she was terrified, poor baby. I brought her inside and woke up my cat loving hubby to ask for help. I totally expected him to be less than pleased with the situation but he didn't freak out. Oh, I should mention, he's VERY allergic to kitties. He helped me try to feed it soy milk and mushy tuna (as I learned from searching the web that night, you should never give a cat cow's milk). We put her in a box with a towel and she slept (or at least was quiet) all night.

In the morning we took her to the Humane Society. They said she was about 3 weeks old. They gave her vaccines and wormed her while we were there and they said she'd go to a foster home for the next 7 weeks then she would be spayed and made available for adoption. Fortunately kittens go quick, so they said it's not likely she'll have any trouble finding a forever home. I made a donation and felt good about the way things ended.

Movie Review: Alvin and The Chipmunks

This movie was SO super cute and fun. I laughed the entire time both at the movie and the memories it brought back from my childhood. This one is good for ALL ages both young and old. I mean really, how can you resist singing chipmunks? So the movie is about these 3 little guys and how they find their way into Dave Seville's life and eventually his heart. Staring Jason Lee as Dave- now that is incredible talent to be able to interact with something that isn't there. Fun and heart warming- 2 thumbs up.

Movie Review: Seven Pounds

Oh my gosh, this was SUCH a sad movie. It kept Leonard and I both guessing until the very end. And let me just say that watching a movie with a twist is never fun with Leonard because he always knows what the twists are before anyone else even knows there IS a twist. This movie was different though.
Will Smith is the lead, he plays an IRS agent who wants to help people, give them breaks or something of that nature. In the end he gives the ultimate break to seven different people and leaves those of us on this side of the glass a blubbering mess of sniffles and tears. If you don't want to cry do NOT watch this movie. I don't care what the critics say- I give it 2 thumbs up!

Movie Review: Obsessed

Lastnight we watched Obsessed. It was incredible.

Lisa starts working at the same place as Derek and she has this thing for him. Derek isn't interested in Lisa, he's happily married to his wife and has a darling little boy. Well, Lisa doesn't deal well with "no" and she pulls all sorts of insane stunts to try to start something with Derek. Before we know it Lisa has made it appear the tables have turned and Derek is stalking her (which isn't the case at all). The police are involved and then, of course, the wife gets involved and she's not believing a word Derek says.

I totally found myself with clinched teeth thinking "How could he let this happen?"

I definitely recommend this movie.

Newsletter Day

Tonight I spent about 2 hours working on the newsletter. Funny, it's something I really enjoy but hear so many others complain of how much they dislike doing newsletters. Maybe I should go into the business of writing newsletters... LOL now there's a thought. Anyway, if you'd like to have a weekly summary of what's new in the store at My Life and Scrap HERE is the place to go to sign up.

Hope everyone is having a great week. It's back to work for me tomorrow YAY : ) I've had a really nice stay-cation but the time has come to head back into the trenches, so away I shall go. I'm actually looking forward to it.

Well... bed time for me. Good Night.

She says... Eat Chocolate!

A few days ago I was having dinner with my mother at Red Lobster (yum) and I spotted this incredibly yummy looking little delight on the dessert menu... Warm Chocolate Chip Lava Cookie (it's that first one). I'm drooling now just thinking about it. I commented on how good that looked and how much I would love to eat one but wouldn't because I'm trying to loose weight. And then my husband chimed in with how much I've been craving chocolate, especially considering how I used to NEVER eat chocolate (didn't even like it). Now before you get any ideas I can assure you, I'm NOT pregnant. Well, with that, my mother, in her infinite wisdom, said that I SHOULD EAT CHOCOLATE. Granted, she did say I should only eat a very small portion and very rarely, but just to get a taste of it so my cravings don't get the best of me.

Lastnight we were bad and had Dominos for dinner. I ordered online and just as I was about to hit the submit button to send in our order a little pop up came up and asked it I would like to have an order of Chocolate Lava Crunch Cake. HELL YES I WOULD! It was SO good.

Changes

It was time for a little change to my blog. It's not permanent so don't worry, I know, it hurts your eyes LOL.

Still crazy hot here, but getting better. Up in the high 80's today but slowly cooling off through the week. Everything is turning brown. Our beautiful evergreen state is turning crispy.

Speaking of crispy... the heat is causing me to gain weight and get off target with my goals. And it's SO hard to get started, I'm trying really hard to not stop completely because I don't know if/when I'll ever start back. It's very discouraging. Oh... HOW exactly did crispy lead me to thinking about weight loss you may ask? Well, it's those thoughts of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts floating in my head of course *sigh*. I can't make them go away. But I haven't given it to their evil little ways yet.

All spending is currently on hold in the Albro household. We got a notice a few days ago that our rent is going up. And if we don't sign a new lease it's going up to the tune of 34%. That's a HUGE increase. So we've made a plan. We're going to sign a 6 month lease and work as hard as we can to get our bills paid down. We'll also use this time to get organized, get rid of some things (look out Ebay) and pack. In February we'll be off to a new home. While I enjoy getting into new places (I bore easily) the moving process is quite challenging *sigh*. BUT it's better than staying here. We'll move into a HOUSE this time, NOT an apartment.

So there ya have it, a glimpse into MY mind. Be on the look out for tomorrow's post. I'll have a whole bunch of new layouts to show off. Hope everyone has a great week.
